Our Mission

We are an Italian contemporary furniture brand committed to design excellence and the highest manufacturing standards.

Our brand name, meaning literally “of Milan” in the dialect of the city, pays homage to its great school of architects, whose inventive and refined approach put Italy on the map for good design.

With passion and pride we continue this tradition of elegant modernity, combining innovative design, the latest technology and the finest artisan skills to propose exclusive products that enrich any ambience with timeless sophistication.

Our Design

We do not produce replicas, copies, or derivative products: all our designs are originals and produced only by us.

Uncompromisingly modern yet warm and refined, de Milan products keep their distance both from mundane minimalism and short lived extravaganza, with an intrinsic truth that stands the test of time.

Some examples of this approach are:
the Carnera table, that unveils the unexpected visual appeal of industrial elements;
the Gallery table, that blures the boundaries between object and picture to become a decorative piece with a practical use;
the Katan table, that indagates the mesmering effect of repetition in visual art;
the imperial stool and the Slide lounge chair, that reinterpret historical forms with a contemporary twist;
the Isolabella sofa, whose nest-like structure goes beyond the typical cubic shape of contempory sofas adding an extra dimension of personalization and practicality (it is available an array of different finishes with different personalities and fully dismountable for easy transportation).

Our Manufacturing process

We conjugate different skills and technologies to translate our original concepts into products that marry the mechanical perfection of a machine and the comfort and human touch that only handwork can give.

For maximum solidity all structural parts are made of selected stainless steel or carbon steel plates and pipes, that are laser cut for maximum precision, retouched by hand to correct any possible visual defect, and finally polished or chromed with the same process used for radiators and cars, twice the industry standard.

In particular the structure of our sofas, whether  exposed or covered in wood, leather or fabric, is always made of stainless steel, which makes them far more solid and durable than the usual timber structures of most companies.

For maximum comfort and durability, the interior of our cuscions is composed of various layers of poliurethane foam with different densities for different functions: a lower thick layer of high density poliurethane to provide a firm base, a top layer of low density poliurethane to provide seat softness, a final layer of polyester wadding.

All of that is fireproof according to the European, British and Californian standards.

Our Materials

For leather cuscion covers we use only selected fine grain top layer leather from bovine hides fatting as established by the Washington convention, corrected to eliminate imperfections and treated to be fire resistant UNI EN 1021/1, UNI EN 1021/2, BS 5852, California TB 116, 117.

For fabric cuscion covers we use the collection CS of the world renown German company Trevira: heavy duty, washable, fire resistent DIN 4102, EN 1021, NF D 60-013, BS 5852, California TB 116, 117.

Our hide leather is the same used in the high-end luggage and accessories sector: extra thick (up to 5 mm.) with vegetable tanning.

For our products in wood we use naturally aged (3-4 years) solid planks and beams, selected one by one in the warehouse of our suppliers. The products are cut using cnc machinery, finished and varnished by hand.

All products requiring assembly are assembled and disassembled before shipping, to make sure their connections are free of defects that could compromise or make unnecessarily difficult their assembly by the client.
